About John Prime and the tour:

• John wrote for The Shreveport Times for 40 years. In his words: "I can honestly say I have never worked the same day the same way twice, chasing stories that for many people would constitute a satisfying bucket list. That includes driving a restored World War II tank with a local history and railroad buff, flying a 12-hour mission in a Barksdale B-52, drinking a Foster's lager backstage at Hirsch Coliseum with John Cougar Mellencamp, visiting Lead Belly's grave with Robert Plant and Allen Ginsberg, covering the training of local troops headed to war and, more sadly, covering the loss and funerals of more than a dozen of those fine people since the start of the Global War on Terror."

• John has taken his love and writing into the research and communication of history focusing on the history of Shreveport and the surrounding areas. He has done extensive research on the history of Forest Park Cemetery and many of the people buried there in preparation of a yet to be published book celebrating the first 100 years of the cemetery. Our 100 year anniversary is next year, 2018. I am sure the artists will find his tour very interesting.

• John has agreed to start the tour of the cemetery at 9AM. The length of the tour will depend on the questions asked and the discussion that he has with the group during the tour. I would expect that the tour will be done well before the picnic lunch you are planning. John has agreed to stay through lunch to answer any questions and engage in discussions any of the artists want to have.
