Central ARTSTATION is proud to announce the unveiling of an exhibition featuring the woodcarvings of Arturo Ramirez. Taking place on Thursday, May 16th from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.
Hailing from the San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico, Arturo Ramirez brings to life the ancient art of waterfowl carving. Introduced to the craft by a high school art teacher, Arturo's passion for woodcarving has flourished into a remarkable body of work.
With each carving meticulously crafted over hundreds of hours, Arturo's pieces stand as testaments to the rich tradition of waterfowl decoys. His Keel-Billed Toucan, awarded the prestigious 'Beginner Winner' accolade by Wildfowl Carving Magazine in 2023, and his Falcon, earning the coveted Novice Best in Show at the 45th Annual Wildfowl Festival, showcase his unparalleled talent and dedication to his craft.
Waterfowl decoys hold a rich history, dating back to ancient civilizations. From the clay decoys used by the ancient Egyptians as early as 2500 BC to the enduring legacy of American Indian decoy-making, the artistry of decoy carving has stood the test of time. Yet, in the face of modernity and mass production, the craft faces challenges. Through Arturo's work, we are reminded of the beauty and significance of handmade artistry.

Flower Power Day & Plant Swap
Join us in Caddo Common Park for Spring Flower Power. This free concert/event will feature the music of Airheart and The Lovers with The Gems Dance Company. Plus a hippie themed Arts Market and Food truck court and so much more.
Also happening during this time is the Downtown Plant Swap. The Downtown Plant Swap is FREE to attend or vend and open to all who love plants of any type- indoor, outdoor, vegetable, succulent- you name it. Bring plants to trade, give away or sell. Bring yard art, windchimes, plant stakes, rabbit compost, any sort of thing that gardeners want or need. Bring garden stuff you no longer want for the FREE STUFF table!

Canceled Plant Swap & Shreveport Regional Jazz Ensemble
This even has been canceled due to rain.
The Jazz Ensemble will be rescheduled for June 6
The Plant Swap will be part of the Flower Power event on May 11.

The Critical MASS 12 PERFORMANCES in Caddo Common Park have been canceled. The literary readings that were to be a part of this event will be rescheduled.
