Our Historic Firehouse Tower originally built in 1922 as the Hose Tower for the Downtown Central Fire Station was renovated into a 5-story apartment. Modern/Industrial style with original exposed brick and colorful, bold accents. Rooftop access where you can enjoy a view of downtown and public art installations, and a beautiful view of the new CADDO COMMON Park- urban green space located directly next door. Shreveport Municipal Auditorium is 1 block away and Strand Theatre is down the street.

The space
Shreveport Regional Arts Council's Historic "KAT" (named after our gracious donors, the Kallenberg Family) TOWER is a brick Fire Station Hose Tower built in 1922 (our office buildings- once the downtown Central Fire Station- are also on the property). The Tower was converted into an apartment for visiting Artists, and now available to the public.
It's Contemporary and Industrial - keeping the fire-engine-red and fire station feel - A truly UNIQUE experience! We provide soda, water, snacks and breakfast munchies, and coffee.

Each level of the Historic hose tower is a different room with huge windows throughout.
Beginning on the Lobby Entry level with space to mingle and includes a 1/2 bath. The security system panel, cleaning supplies, and all Tower info is here, too.
Up a flight of stairs (way easier without full 1920's fire gear) to the Living Room space. We have board games and books if you opt for a fun night in.
Next flight up is the Dining Room and fully-stocked Kitchenette. We keep the shelves stocked with tons of snacks and the apartment-size refrigerator is always stocked with sodas, water, and some adult beverages. We don't have an oven, but have provided a toaster oven that gets most jobs done. A 2-burner stove top, all the cooking essentials, toaster, and any and all things you will need to cook and enjoy any meal you desire. There are so many AMAZING restaurants downtown, too!
Up another flight of stairs to the roomy Bathroom level. The wet room shower, with rain shower head and hand shower, is stocked with bath amenities and towels. The vanity and sink are right outside, along with a modern desk for getting ready before you clear it to get to work!
The top level of the KAT Tower hosts the Queen-sized platform bed with storage underneath where you'll find extra linens and pillows.
From the bedroom, you will find the Rooftop access ladder. A simple climb up to a private oasis with a 360 view of downtown, including beautiful art installations, and a birds-eye-view of the newly complete Caddo Common Park.

You are welcome to utilize our Business Center (Computers, Printer, Copy, Scan, etc) anytime during normal business hours- located in our Shreveport Regional Arts Council's Central Artstation Lobby.

Guest access
The KAT Tower is your private space! If you need emergency laundry, we can help on-site. You are welcome to access our Business Resource Center during normal business hours, too.

Other things to note
We support our local tourism economy by paying the Hotel/Motel tax rate! Our $20 cleaning fee allows us, as a non-profit, to cover the cost.

We gladly host your pets! Please send us an inquiry or a note upon booking so that we are able to send you a special offer including the $30 one-time pet fee. This helps us cover the additional time spent for cleaning to make sure any future guests with allergies have a great experience, too!
